Fly Control with Franky Reid-Warrilow

Flies and midges are common summer irritants that can affect the comfort, health and well-being of horses and ponies. There are many fly control practices and with effective management, you can help ensure your horse has a healthy, happy and fly-free summer.

To help you discover some ways to keep your horse fly-free, we caught up with Shires Pro Rider, Franky Reid-Warrilow, to find out how she helps her horses stay comfortable.

Franky shared:

In spring and summer, one of my horses really struggles with Sweet-Itch. So for me, it’s vital that he wears the Tempest Plus Sweet-itch Combo Rug and a FlyGuard Pro Deluxe Fly Mask With Ears & Nose.

Another way I provide additional fly protection is with ARMA Fly Boots. I find fly boots great for summer because they help stop flies laying their eggs on the horse’s legs.
