The Karben Ultra Grip FX Stirrups are engineered for performance and support as they have a deep foot plate, secure grip treads and a stabilising weighted base.
These features allow the rider to gain shock absorbing support, excellent grip in wet or dry conditions and a more naturally optimised hip, knee and foot alignment.
For extra reassurance when riding, the stirrups have an outer safety arm that flexes under pressure in the event of a fall. Once the foot is released from the stirrup, the rubber arm retains its original shape and purpose as a supportive lateral arm.
Showjumper, JP, has put the Karben Ultra Grip FX Stirrups to the test and shares why he finds them great for confidence, support and safety in the saddle.
JP shares:
I’m really impressed with them! They’ve got a really good safety feature that’s got me out of a couple of scrapes. They’re very well balanced, so my foot always finds its way back in with the stirrup the correct way round.
They’ve also got a lovely, grippy footplate and I never find my foot sliding out, even when I’m wearing very worn boots. They’re the best stirrups I’ve ever used!
Frequently Asked Safety Stirrup Questions
What are safety stirrups
Safety stirrups are specially designed to help enhance safety in the event of a fall as they allow the foot to release from the stirrup more easily.
How do safety stirrups work
Safety stirrups often have a safety feature, such as a flexible or hinged outer safety arm, which allows the foot to release when under pressure.
How do you put safety stirrups on a saddle
For the safety arm to work, the stirrups need to be attached correctly to the stirrup leathers on a saddle. The stirrup safety arm should always face outwards when the foot is in the stirrup, so the arm should be facing towards the front of the saddle when not in use.
