On an early morning at Maidwell Lodge Farm in Northamptonshire, we joined Piggy March to get a glimpse into the life of event riders and their horses. Throughout the day, we had the chance to see Piggy work with her horses, learn which products are included in their training & care and meet her team of grooms.
When turning out her horses, we spotted Piggy reach for one of her go-to summer products, the Highlander Plus Sun Shade Combo Fly Rug. As she rugged her horses for turnout, Piggy shared why the rug is her choice for fly and sun protection in summer.
Piggy March Shared:
I think it’s really important that horses are as comfortable as they can be at all times of the year. In summer especially, bugs and flies can irritate horses in the field and lead them to start doing zoomies (which none of us like to see!).
For me, the Highlander Plus Sun Shade Fly Combo Rug from Shires Equestrian is brilliant because it fits very well, goes over the ears and offers coverage all the way back past the tail. It fastens in a lot of places, so it stays secure and can’t go anywhere.
When I use the Highlander Plus Sun Shade Fly Combo Rug, I’m able to ensure my horses are well covered and as comfortable as possible.
About the Highlander Plus Sun Shade Combo Fly Rug
The Highlander Plus Sun Shade Combo Fly Rug is an ideal fly rug for horses that need head to tail protection against the sun and flies.
Providing excellent coverage, the fly rug has an extended neck, large belly flap, over the poll hood and extra large pleated tail flap. It benefits from airstream side panels that allow free transfer of air to keep horses cool and comfortable in the field.
The fly rug also offers excellent protection from sun burn and sun bleaching as it’s made from fabric that blocks up to 90% of the sun’s UV rays.
