In the first series of Train with Shires, Piggy March starts by showing you how she includes walk-trot transitions in training sessions with her horses.

"I like to do this exercise so that when I do a downward transition my horses don’t just fall in a heap and stop."

Easy to include in training, this flatwork exercise is great for all levels of horses and can be useful for those preparing for the dressage phase of eventing.

"This is something I work a lot on with my horses as it really helps keep the horse off your aid and on its rails - which is important for all three disciplines."

Following from the walk-trot transitions, Piggy March demonstrates a change of rein exercise that she regularly does with her horses.

After the change of rein exercise, Piggy March adds poles to her training to show you some easy polework exercises to try.

"As I do this polework exercise, my job is to keep the line, rhythm and activity while my horse focuses on his footwork."
